COURSE OVERVIEW

A one-semester course, worth five high school credits. The majority of this semester seeks to answer "Why should I be Catholic?" with an approachable introduction to Catholic apologetics in the text and study guide A Philadelphia Catholic in King James's Court.  The study includes a defense and explanation of the teachings, beliefs, and practices of the Catholic Church, seeking especially to address the concerns of fundamentalist Christians.  The tail-end of the semester moves on to Where We Got the Bible…Our Debt to the Catholic Church, which explores the role played by the Catholic Church in forming, preserving, and disseminating Scripture, particularly addressing myths about Catholic opposition to Scripture.
